Folklore Day Celebration Brings
Cultural Vibrance to PAAC College
On August 22, 2025, Pallagatti Adavappa
Arts and Commerce College (PAAC) came
alive with colors, rhythms, and melodies
as it celebrated a vibrant Folklore Day.
The event highlighted the richness of
traditional folk culture and its
timeless relevance in modern life.
The celebration featured renowned folk
expert and retired primary school
teacher, Sri Ragi Thimmaiah, who
captivated the gathering with his deep
knowledge and soulful renditions of
traditional folk songs. In his engaging
talk, he beautifully explained the
significance of folk songs in everyday
life, sharing how they have always
accompanied people through diverse
situations—be it the joy of marriage
ceremonies, the rhythm of grinding ragi,
or the tender emotions of love.
His live performance of traditional
songs for these occasions mesmerized the
audience, making the event an
interactive and memorable experience.
Each song resonated with the spirit of
the land, reminding everyone how these
melodies once made work more
spontaneous, natural, and energizing.
The program stood as a testament to our
rich cultural heritage, inspiring
students and faculty alike to cherish
and preserve the traditional art forms
that continue to influence our society
today.

About Pallagatti
Adavappa Arts College Tiptur
When
the Kalpataru Vidya Samsthe Trust was formed in
1962, to administer Kalpataru College, it
offered all the three streams of arts, science
and commerce. The college flourished for two
decades until the strength exceeded 2,500
students. The college had to be bifurcated
according to the directions of the collegiate
education. So, an independent college for the
Arts and Commerce streams was established in the
year 1982 and was named after the founder
president and philanthropist, Pallagatti
Adavappa, while, the science college retained
the name Kalpataru.
